The Newton Plant Sale is a fundraising event for the Newton Pride Committee, an all-volunteer organization that supports quality-of-life activities in the City of Newton such as arts programs, tree replacement and after school care for children. The Sale is also a community building event with over 100 volunteers coming together for the love of gardening.

As Chairperson for the event, Ms. Burton is responsible for selecting over 8,000 plants each year, working closely with growers, dealers, sponsors and vendors. This charitable event is a labor of love for Ms. Burton and she is proud to have turned it into the most successful fundraising event in the history of the organization.
