“Upstairs-downstairs” in Jamaica Plain required a double entry and the feeling of two separate yards. A play space and lawn for the children living upstairs and, for the downstairs owner, a garden and private reading room. The rain garden is both decorate and functional, moving water away from the foundation and the basement.
